I’ve been running this blog for over a year, and it’s been way more work than I expected. I’m writing twice per week and trying to offer up some type of value to those who want to transition to a freelance lifestyle. That, along with finding or taking the right photo to go along with each post it pretty time-consuming.
I had been asking Steve to help me out with proofreading all the content and taking photos, but it was very unorganized and a lot of the time, rushed. He has a full-time job and didn’t always have the time to dedicate to helping me out on the spot.
I think I realized that I needed help with this in order to make it great. I want the blog to be well done and not a mess of content and images thrown together randomly.
About a month ago, Steve and I had a little meeting about putting together a structured process for the blog so that we could work TOGETHER in a timely manner.
Now, I have a process of when the blog drafts will be written, proofed, and uploaded. How photo sessions will fit into the schedule and edited so everything gets published on time. I even put together a style guide for fonts, colors, and photo types.
To be honest, this blog was meant to be a relaxed project for me to work on and share my freelance experience with the world. The thing is, I want it to be beautiful and well thought out. It was in need of some structure in order to turn it into something I was truly proud of.
The blog itself is looking stronger already. The writing is also getting better. I’m happy with the way it’s progressing since it launched last year.
I came to the realization that I needed to ask for help in order to take this blog to the next level. I’m thankful to have a husband who understands and wants to help me with my passions. I’m excited to see where the blog goes from here!
