I was recently looking back in one of my old journals and I stumbled across something that made me stop and smile. Written on April 25th, 2016: “My 100-day goal is to quit my full-time job and rely on my own business- designing websites and digital marketing plans.” I’ve had this dream for YEARS before this date, but this was this first time I wrote it down on paper and made it an official goal.


I had my date set, what I wanted to accomplish, and a plan of action. I started a new journal and tracked and evaluated how my days went. I made myself different tasks to accomplish and goals I wanted to hit. This felt really exciting!


After 100 days I was not ready for this change. I was scared and pretty disappointed, but I didn’t stop.


335 days after that journal entry was written, my notice was submitted and I was about to embark on this crazy journey. It took me 3X longer to get here, which seems like a long time, but here I am and that’s all that matters now.


Progress sometimes feels like it’s happening slowly. Weeks, months, even years can go by… but if you are consistently working towards something, the positive movement will happen.


I’ve used a journal for the past few years and that has allowed me to direct my focus. I’ve tracked everything from weekly to-do’s, goals, accomplishments, workouts, finances, and random ideas. It’s interesting to look back and see where I was at in life and compare it to the current state.


I strongly believe that if you make very aggressive goals for yourself, you will accomplish so much more than you initially set out to do. Continue to put one foot in front of the other!


Time + Consistency = Forward Progress


Every single day you have the opportunity to take your goals and turn them into action. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you as long as you are making forward progress.
